I am running Windows XP home edition. I've forgotten my password (yeah, I know, I know  ). I didn't put in a hint and the other user (whose password I do know) does not have adminstrator rights...does anyone know how I can reset the password? And no, I didn't make a password reset disc.

Oh I'm not sure, I don't feel confident enough. Do you know anything about this site I found? http://www.loginrecovery.com/ That looks simple enough. But since I can get in to another account but it doesn't have administrator capabilities, can I do it through that account first?

    XP home?

Reboot into safe mode, then when the logon screen comes up, select Administrator account. Logon there, then go into user manager (start, control panel, user accounts). Remove the password for the account you can't get into.

XP pro is a different animal, so to speak. If the user who installed XP pro, did not specify a password during the installation, then the following should help:

    At the Welcome screen.

    Use the following keys:

CTRL + ALT + DEL (two times in rapid succesion)

A logon prompt should appear with:

    Username and password

    Change the username to: Administrator
Password (keep it blank): Press OK (or press enter).

My post above is for normal boot. Safe mode should work as HOME does.
