format c reinstall xp

Can you advise how to format / wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows xp
I tied to do it from just loading the xp cd disc but i thnk the only option was to install on top of the existing copy, is there a way around this?
I uninstalled Service Pack 2 but still wasnt sure how to format access the correct start point to wipe the drive

press esc when the list of existing installs come.(Read the options on the bottom panel.)You will then get a list of various partitions.To format you will have to delete it and the create one with that space.

 

if your HD is still good put WinxpSP2 and boot follow up instructions, it is easy to format, you can choose NTFS or FAT32.

 

this is all new to me so can you bear with me,,, but I'll need a detailed button by button account of how to achieve this............

the format is done for me ?
