Format Factory

Sorry if this has been asked, but I can't find an answer.
I got a new Acer Aspire laptop yesterday but when I DL FF on it it is VERRRRRY slow. It is the latest one from your site.
I have my older Acer Aspire and it converts like lightning and it is 4.9 Version
So I haven't been in here for a while and thought you guys may have the answer.
I am trying to convert to MPG for my TV USB
I am not a techy person much but can see my around instructions.

So sorry.
I download movies in mp4 format.
But they have to be converted to mpg so as I can transfer them to my USB which I put into my big TV USB port.

I use the conversion app called Format Factory.
I downloaded it from here this morning.
But, I have a new laptop and when I was converting, said file, it was taking so long ( just like this thread)

On my older, not old, older laptop, same brand, Format Factory the files are converted much quicker.
Although, both Format Factory apps are different versions.
Phew.

No useful experience, sorry. Hopefully someone else has. Task Manager should give you some idea what may be slowing things down. Of course, newer doesn't necessarily equate to faster. Both laptop spec and many other factors could be impacting the conversion process.

 

I have not used format factory, might try handbrake and see if it does any better. Like Earthling said, it could be a hardware difference - the amount of RAM, the video chipset, and so on..
