I just got a 256 GB Micro SD Card for my Win10 Tablet.

I am Formatting it in my Win7. DeskTop PC.

But the Capacity that comes up in the Format window says it is 238 GB.

And even with my other Cards the Capacity is never Right On.

Is this because of how Windows Counts Memory?

Maybe. Drive makers tend to use 1000 = kilo while operating systems often use 1024 so that can account for some difference. But also, drive makers tend to market the drives using "raw" figures - sort of like refrigerators market available space with no shelves or drawers inside. Suddenly that 24 cubic foot fridge can only hold 20 cubic feet of food.

With a drive, once you format and map out the storage location and create the necessary file tables, all that takes up space which now no longer usable to you. So it is all normal.

Why are you formatting it? I currently own 8 SD cards (I'm not including my sd camera cards in that number; I keep those separate) and 7 micro sd cards in various sizes and different brands. I have never formatted any of the cards. I use it the way it comes. The cards are recognized by Windows , android and linux.
