Im not sure, maybe someone can confirm, but I am sure with XP, you can boot from the CD and format the drive. Try it with your 2K disk. In the case of XP it tells you theres an operating system installed at which point you continue and then are given the option.

Dont know why you would go from XP to 2000, but hey, thats your thing. A tool like Partition Magic would be handy, then you could dual boot XP and 2k if you wanted to as well as format partitions back and forth quickly and easily including FAT, NTFS, all Linux variants, etc.

Borrow someone else XP disk, if ya got legal Key.

You can boot/setup/install/reformat with W2K floppies (total of 4) & unbootable CD, it will identify OS already installed, (and just like XP) can install to same partition, then you have option to format.

Here is how to make set of windows 2000 boot floppies:

In bios set Cd to boot before HDD.
Insert Cd reboot "pay attention" should get message "press any key to boot from CD" If you have a bootable W2K CD
    Or see my previous post.

If that fails, then there is FDISK.

Windows 2000 is not going to save you from viruses. Install XP, get Windows Update immediately, install antivirus, use Mozilla Firefox and enjoy life.
