hi i have been having some problems with my lap top, so i have decided to format the hard drive, but dont know hao to do it, when i have formated my pc in the past, it gives me an option to format it in that blue screen you get when u boot from cd.

with my laptop it just gives me install a copy of windows, repair or exit.

    any ideas???

    i have a rock quadra 64

    cheers

Depends on what you want to do ...that first screen is install new (which will take you to a reformat of the entire disc and loose everything you have / or the option to do a repair of the existing xp installation - usually a better option).
The second is repair which is a repair through the recovery console ....not what you want to do.
So choose install new ....agree to license (f8) then when it finds your existing os ...either choose "R" to repair or enter to do a complete new installation.

Thought you were taliking about normal XP.....if there is such a thing. :D

There should be a way to format the drive using the recovery cd but I've never done it. Someone should be able to help you out though. :)

Does it come with a manual?
