   Hi everybody
   
   I formatted a USB drive then realised I needed some files from it. I haven't used it since then - just stored it away.
   
   I Googled recovering files from a formatted drive, but the results are very confusing. So, can anyone suggest a recovery tool, preferably free, that a real newbie like myself can use? My OS is Windows 8. The files I need back are mainly Word and JPG. Many thanks.
