Living close to his home town, it is felt here. There was a nice summary of his career on NBC last night....Jerry you will be missed

Only man to serve as President and Vice-President and wasn't elected to either office. Was somewhat of a villain at the time for pardoning Richard Nixon, but people now look back on it and said it was a good idea because the country was tired of Watergate and Nixon's deception.

 

Someone had to start us back on the road to respectability. At least, he didn't get us into a conflict that we had no hope of winning, get caught womanizing, or help oil and big business get a stranglehold on the country. AND he had a good long career as a Senator.

 

Probably didn't word that as well as I could have. Should have said "was looked at as somewhat of a villain" at the time. That act likely cost him dearly in the election against Jimmy Crater. What he did was restore humility and respectability back to the office of President after a very dark period.

 

It's ok, star ..I knew what you meant. Just didn't want his memory stained by an act of, what I thought, was bravery. (Don't tell anyone but I voted for the Tricky One!!! )
He will be buried in a strange place though...next to his musum, on the west bank of the Grand River.
