While getting assistance for possible malware guided by a malware expert I recall selecting the alcmtr.exe in 04 and having hijackthis fix it.

Recently, I did a search using windows search and found 3 files as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS
    C:\ProgramFiles\Realtek\InstallShield
    C:\WINDOWS\Drivers\AudioDriver\WDM
    they are 56kb each

I've been googling this thing and read up on how to disable using msconfig and then in startup but I also read that using startup for eliminating programs might not be a good thing.

In any case I want to know is there a way to get rid of these that is recommended? Also, since it's under AudioDriver will I have no audio if I get rid of it? Or, if ain't broke don't fix it?

I read that the files associated with this name are a tracking your habits thing but that's all I know.
    Thanks!

You could use CCleaner to remove it from the startup list. I've read that you might have problems updating drivers in the future if you outright delete it. It is part of the Realtek audio driver package. It's not malicious.

Just Playin thanks for the tip on using ccleaner.

If it's been reported that people have issues with updating drivers after deleting then I won't bother. It's like AOL I guess. I can't seem to get it completely of my pc.
