I have a newly installed Foxconn Mobo that I cannot set to boot first automatically. Every time I start my pc the screen shown below appears and I have to select my boot device. I have changed it in bios to start with this drive (the one highlighted in the pic) but it still keeps asking me. Once I have selected it everything works fine.

I can't think what I'm doing wrong. Or am I?

    Thanks

Are you saving it to BIOS "before" it starts to boot the OS? Is there another option within your BIOS that says "Hard Disk Boot Priority" and or "First/Second/Third Boot Device". It looks like you have at least 3xHDD, a FDD and a CD Drive but you should have a boot or seek priority order which you need to save to the BIOS before allowing it to Boot up to OS.

Yes there is such a screen in bios as shown in pictue but i have selected it and pressed f10 to save but it still continues to the boot menu. :cry

Could the SATA / Chanel number in the boot menu have anything to do with it? They are all SATA drives though!! :confused

    Cheers

I have a Foxconn board and how i do it is when booting press F2 to get into bios then select "advanced bios features" that should take you to a screen that has "boot device priority" highlight that and press "enter" it should then allow you to select which disk you want to boot from.

Which board do you have ?

The menu on the picture is in the advanced bios settings. I cannot find anywhere else with more options about hard disk priorities. :confused

I make sure that I have them in the right order then I select "exit and save". I'm not a newbie with messing about in the bios, I've looked through it many a time and still, no matter what i still cannot make it start up automatically on the drive I want! :confused

No expert here; but could a bad battery cause this behaviour?

One other thought is on a Foxconn MB (F12) may be a key to Select Boot Order. Maybe you have a sticky F12 key or could try a different keyboard as a test.
