On one of my computers I went to do a disk defrag and something came up that really scared me. Most of the files on my computer were listed as fragmented files. Kind of creepy??? I have never seen this many fragmented files on a computer before. What should I do? Win XP

    Thanks ahead of time

Defrag the drive. You will get a lot of fragmentation if you don't do it on a regular basis. Nothing to worry about. After you defrag run the disk clean-up utility and then check every few weeks or so.

When you install and modify programs, the files get scattered all over your hard disk. When you try to open those programs, it is slower because it has to search everywhere to find the files it needs to open them. When you defrag, it put the files together so that they open faster.

If you install alot of programs frequently, its best to defrag every week or two, but if your not a heavy downloader, then once a month is good
