Framerate problem

My computer isn't that horrible, but it isn't the best. When i run Doom III, i get around 10 FPS. I was wondering, what would I need to get to make this better. I was thinking about getting a new video card, but I'm not positive that'll fix the problem, and I'm afraid to spend a bunch of money on something that won't fix my problem, please help me.

By the way, i have a Radion x300 Video card, and about 1.5 gigs of ram.

 

List your entire system.

 

The X300, is an entry level 128mb card with not enough power to run DOOM III at an acceptable level. If you havent done so already, use the lowest video setting to obtain the maximum framerate possible with that card. It's a start.

Sounds to me like your graphics card is the problem, presuming your processor is 2Ghz or faster with that amount of ram you should have no problems. Is the radeon x300 a graphics card or is it a onboard graphics chip? Either way the best thing for you to do in doom 3 is the following...
create a file called autoexec.cfg in your doom3/base directory (use notepad or wordpad to do this) and copy/paste the following into the file. Save it and run doom 3, and you should gain some performance.
