Fraud And More

This place is great, I have 2 questions, 1 about fraud and 1 about CC cleaner

1 I have the free version of CC cleaner, I update it regularly, run it about 1x a week..is there any reason to upgrade a pro version? I am no computer savy, etc

2 I got an email that my debit card had a fraud charge on it
I called the number on back the card, they finally believed me that i wasnt 2 states over using my card and issuesd me a new card and told me any charges would be taken off.

Heres my issue
I rarely use my card, I use it at SAMS club, via the SAMS CLUB app, where I have the CC number saved on my phone and SCAN with my phone, pay via app and leave.
could this be how my debit card number was stolen and used else where?
Should I not have my debit card number on my phone in the app?
