Can you imagine all that water froze?

 

I saw that photo at a vist to the Falls last year - it's hard to imagine all that being frozen solid.

I think it was in the 1920's that they prohibited people from walking on the frozen falls. Sometime in that decade some of the ice collapsed and some folks were killed.

 

So that wasn't just a one time occurrence?

LMAO @ CP... that was hysterical... I needed that today... am in here between housework spurts as the inlaws are coming over and I want the place to look great (normally looks good, but now it has to be even better). Actually tho, all the water is not frozen (you can see the water shooting out just below the edge) It is a 'crust' of ice over the top. Growing up in the country with a creek across the street, I learned early on about that. The water freezes on top and since water actually expands when it freezes, it creates a dome or crust over the running water. If it is cold enough for long enough, that dome can end up being several feet thick (or not and then you get wet and cold real fast)

That picture is all over the place on the net. The one your talking of says it's a post card, in excelent condition and for sale, didn't check how much, might have been on Ebay Found another too.
