I'd recommend either CDBurnerXP or ImgBurn. I've had luck with both of them.

I personally use Nero Burning Rom for my burning needs, here is a link http://majorgeeks.com/Nero_9_d2228.html. But I got to warn you its only a shareware program it will run for so long then you will have to pay for the continue use of the program

IMGburn here too, no need for any pay for apps. I still have Nero 6 and never upgraded it and never needed to either. Besides, I keep having to find my backup of it amongst all this mess. It is cute looking but I don't pay for cute alone.:)

I too use Nero6 and have no need to use any of the newer Nero releases. Nero6 is (IMHO) the best Nero ever released. Lean, mean, full of features, no bloat. But, for freeware, I strongly recommend AShampoo Studio 2009 (requires email registration, but it's 100% free forever), and BurnAware. Both are VERY easy to use (BurnAware is a bit easier), and both will burn just about anything under the sun: data, music, MP3>CD audio conversion and burning, DVD movies, etc. AShampoo will also create/burn video CDs. BurnAware isn't all that great for disc image needs, like creating and burning ISO/BIN/IMG files; AShampoo handles them w/o problems. However, if you do lots of burning and creating disc image files, then ImgBurn is definitely the choice. In fact, I have 3 burning tools installed on my PC: Nero 6.6.1.19b, AShampoo Studio 2009, and ImgBurn.

I use Nero as well (I'll say it has a nice UI, I like to change the colors on it), but the OP asked for free programs, so I gave free programs.

Oh, I didn't know AShampoo had freeware, I'll try that out on W7 X64. Thanks.

That's a direct quote from the AShampoo description here at MajorGeeks. I have no idea why this sentence is in the description, but it's not true. This implies that you can add an AVI file and end up with a DVD or VCD. Nope. The program only burns pre-authored DVDs (with the VOBs, BUPs, IFOs). AShampoo Burning Studio 2009 will NOT author a DVD (and I couldn't locate the DVD slideshow feature either; I think part of the description for their paid software somehow made into the description for the freeware). You can import MPEG/MPG files for VCD/SVCD creation, but VCD/SVCDs are MPEG files anyway, so that's not a big deal.
