Free Clock Under Vista 32 bit

I recently disabled the Vista Sidebar because it has been mooted that it has vulnerabilities.

I miss my clock so I searched for an alternative.

I am looking for a small program with the ability to customise.

I found some but they all downloaded toolbars, pages, add-ons, etc.

Has anyone found a free clock that does not have vulnerabilities and without toolbars etc.

    Thanks

Yes and not to be pedantic, the actual Windows clock that's at the right hand side of the taskbar.

Personally thought the sidebar was good then, a year later thought well no its just sucking up resources and real-estate, the clock is just as well served by the built in taskbar clock.

The big problem with the sidebar, is that it gets covered when you open a browser or other software item. As for vulnerabilities, only if you use add-ins for the Side bar that come from unknown sources, and do not scan the software before installing, for baddies.

I did not understand David's post.
Brownizs: You seem to suggest that I should re-enable the sidebar to re-install the clock.

I wouldn't. Why run something that you will never see. Only way that you would see it, is if you are running dual monitors. Just use the built in clock in the Taskbar, forget about the Windows gadgets, which are no longer supported.

Also FYI, your machine will run Windows 7, so I would ditch Vista, and grab up 7, since you can get it still for a steal. Plus you will find that the machine you are running Vista on, will run smoother.

Probably just wants something big to look at whenever they aren't using the computer and it's turned on.

This is a nice piece of software for your computer.

Thank you for the link - a good selection.

I will take a closer look.

    Best wishes.

Ps The sidebar question is confusing. Some say its vulnerable to attack, others say they have never noticed a probeem over many years. I find myself in the latter camp - but why take the risk.

It is only vulnerable as I stated before, if you download third party Sidebar add-on's, that are carrying a Rootkit, Trojan or Virus. Since the Sidebar is no longer supported by Microsoft, it is going to be hard to find any gadgets for it.

Since the Sidebar is no longer supported by Microsoft, it is open to exploit. That is the real issue IMO. No support, no patches/security updates.

As mentioned in the other Windows Sidebar topic started by anon_private.
