Free computer needs processor

Hi, I recently got a job in the tech department at my school. anywho a teacher was gutting a computer and putting parts into his work computer. anyway I found the gutted computer about to go into the trash, it has a power source and the mother board. I plan adding a graphics card later but the thing is that it's missing a processor. I don't want to buy the wrong bus speed or socket type, so I thought I'd ask the ask the experts.

would like to go dual core if possible,

You should buy an AM2/AM2+ processor.I'd reccomend the Athlon X2 4850e or 5050e.
e=less heat,less power consumption.

 

agreed and buy a better graphics card if you will be gaming, something like ati radeon 3450 or nvidia geforce 9600gso

The 9600gso is far better than the 3450.But there is another possibility:the HD4670.Sometimes it outperforms the 9600gso and it's somehow cheaper.

 

sorry fellas, but i use my hp tx2510us for gaming (it gets the job done)... I'd rather use this free desktop for my dads business/ family all around pc... and my bro can use it for FF11 given that the graphics card was integrated and has some form of TNL.

any other suggestions would be liked.

I had a friend help me order a Athlon X2 4850e and 2 gigs of ram (4X512mb ddr)

this computer should be sweet when I get it all put together,
