Free Data Recovery Software

Hi all,

I am looking for a free data recovery program recommended by my friends here at Major Geeks.

All of the free packages I have found tease you with locating the data but only allow a few Gbs free and you have to upgrade to actually recover all of you data they find.

Just an FYI, I actually purchased on (Stellar Phoenix Photo – Video - Recovery ) and they ripped me off. The program will not except the UN or License #. I have spent hours on the phone with them to no avail.

I have data on a media card I "have" to recover, it is a long story I won't take up your time about but any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

 

You don't mention Recuva but hopefully you have already exhausted its possibilities?

 

I meant to add that it is important not to write to the drive with the lost files as their space is not protected and they may get overwritten.

Recuva had the same thing happen, only limited retrieval with the Free download. I downloaded the Pro and it is doing it's thing right now. I will let you know how I make out.

Well you did it again Earthling. Everything loaded good 1 hour and 20 minutes later my data is being transferred to another USB stick. I don't think I needed to do a Deep Scan, lol.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to convert them from .avi to MP4s. I suppose I should start a new thread for that next.

I mentioned it in my last two posts, I ended up purchasing Pro. The sad part is that it recovered all of the deleted files except the two I "really" needed to recover

I have used Recurva for years and when I went to use it the other day it was just plain gone.
