The only discussion I could find on database programs was from 2014 so I'll start a new thread.
I have a genealogy website. I would like to have a database program that is repetitively simple that will let me type in one set of information - that can be from 1 line to 300+ words- and then use the names within that set of information as a key. My Access program is old and won't run under Windows 7. I'd love a free program if such things are available.

Here's an example of what I'll be working with. (sorry if this is more information than needed).

    This is the information:
30 Jun 1748. Deed: Tyrrell County, North Carolina

Book 2 p.14: “343-(14): John Davenport Sr of Tyrrell Co. to his sons Richard, John, James & Joseph. 30 Jun 1748. Deed of gift. To son Richard: The 80 acres where he now lives. To son John: 225 acres. To sons James & Joseph: All my tools. To my son Joseph: 1 moiety of my personal estate, excepting some items to my son William Davenport. 3 acres to my granddaughter Mary the daughter of William & granddaughters Ann & Laurana daughters of Jacob Davenport dec’d. Sd. grantor’s wife was Ann Davenport. John (x) Davenport. Wit: Christian (x) Barrett, W. Barrett.” (1)

    (1) Bradley, Stephen E. Jr., Dr., The Deeds of Tyrrell County North Carolina, 1735-1760, p.23 Deed book 2 343-(14). (Keysville, VA, c1991-1993)

I would like to make this information accessible under: Richard, John, James, Joseph, William. Mary, Ann, Laurana, Jacob.

And be able to place this information on my website. In the past I used a Pearl program, but it was a cumbersome program and the html output wasn't great.

Any ideas, suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

    Try LibreOffice Base.

I did see that mentioned in my online search. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know about simple but there are free SQL and Firebird
If you want to buy one Filemaker is good.
You can turn your old OS and database into a virtual machine and use VirtualBox to run it for a bit longer.

Maybe one of the programs in the Apache open office suite?

Base in Apache OpenOffice is the same as in LibreOffice which is recommended in post #2.
