I'm thinking of downloading a freeware Digital Audio Workstation called Anvil Studio. Anyone heard of this? I'm wary of freeware that hasn't been evaluated by MajorGeeks.
    Thanks!

I've heard but never used. I would recommend Reaper however, it's basically freeware, in that it's not crippled in anyway and if you use it past 30 or so days you only get a quick nag screen on startup, but it's fully functional, and extremely cheap to register as well if you end up liking it. One really nice thing as well is that the official forums are very lively and helpful, and it's even on Majorgeeks.

This peaked my interest, so I did some research on the "free" version of Anvil Studio. This is what I found:
So, technically, it is free, but only free for a one-track minute. But $19 is pretty cheap...

BUT- check out Kristal Engine for hi-quality, truly free DAW software.
