Free Games to play with my Son on the net

Hello,
Can anyone suggest any decent free games on the internet, action or rpg, where my son and I can meet and play games together in between visits?
We both have Compaq presarios with not very powerful video cards in them. So, I guess the best eye candy is out of the question until I can afford to upgrade video cards on both our PCs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I would like to avoid malware that might be encountered if I attempt to find something without a little direction from someone.

someone had already suggested "runescape" and I suggest it also...its so fun!!! ADDICTING let me tell ya! There is a free version which you could play forever and paying members which really isn't all that expensive if you find you want more challenges and better items for the game.. I play it with my two daughters we love it. I'm a member ...they aren't *haha*
