    hi,

i was reading an electronic online journal at www.evogamers.com and he mentions a company giving free ipods out. now im the first one to be skeptical but it seems its true. wired.com also has an article on the site.

    did anyone try this?

CNN and Wired.com have articles on Enron on their sites, too, and I'm not buying into them, either. What is this company? I don't see where it is mentioned by name so these "facts" cam be independently confirmed. When an offer looks too good to be true, it usually is.

There are a lot of those deals flying around forums these days. like what just playin said, i wouldn't trust anything unless you can get a good company name. and especially not if it asks for credit number or information or your email addresss.

These are called matrix schemes and they are illegal. Fool yourself all you want, this too shall pass.

If it is true, show me your iPod. Otherwise, it is just another unsubstantiated claim.

    hi,

thats why i posted it, becuase there has been lots of claims and its been in the media. i wanted to know if anyone here personally tried it. you think if i got my ipod i would post about it? i was telling him that wired.com, who also wrote the article he posted, also posted about this being true.

If I knew a legitimate method to get a free iPod, I'd post it. The Wired.com article states that the offer is being made, however, it does not state that the offer is true, it asserts the opposite, in fact. If you would have read the CNN and Wired.com articles, you wouldn't have wasted your time on this.

    Umm,

I did read it. Apparently you didnt.

the article i said that says its legitimate is NOT the article Jamiko posted. Its in another article by wired.com, that SPECIFICALLY mentions the free ipod website. If you found that article and read it, you wouldnt have accused me of being an idiot. I was telling him the same website that wrote about that pyramid scheme also talked about the freeipod website being legit in another article.

i forget the link its on that website i mentioned in my first post.

    Here is the other article:

    http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,64614,00.html

This is one of those things in life that a popular expression applies to. If it seems too good to be true, it is. I'm staying far away from this. It doesn't matter to me if it "appears" to be legit to some, I can smell it and it stinks.

I decided to do some more research on this, as it seems to be a popular topic across the internet lately. Here is some interesting things I found:

Red flags from the Terms and Conditions on the freeipods site:

    3. Emails.

    (c) By signing up for this website, the user agrees to receive emails we or another 3rd party may send about special offers on our website, as well as third party advertisements or offers.

    4. Cancellation of Account.

    (a) There is no way to cancel an account. If a user no longer wishes to remain a part of this site, they should cease to access their account, and nothing more will happen with their information.

    1. Completion of Offers

    (b) The user must complete the offer by clicking on the offer from this website and nowhere else (including any of our affiliates, competitors, or the offer provider's website). Users must click the offer link via our page in order for us to correctly track and credit for a user's offer completion. Note that some applications like spyware blockers, or popup blockers may preclude these links from functioning correctly.

    2. Failure to be credited for an offer

    (a) Gratis Internet does not guarantee that a user will receive credit for an offer. We reserve the right to refuse crediting a user for offer completion for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to, lack of appropriate information, improper sign-up method, improper browser settings, and/or a history of manual credits. Manual credits are offers that are credited through emailing confirmation of completion.

    1. Receipt of Product

    (a) Gratis Internet does not guarantee receipt of any product regardless of offers completed or referrals accumulated.

    (b) We will take measures to ensure that the user receives orders within a reasonable amount of time. However, we do not make any guarantee on delivery time or availability of product.

    (e) Products listed on our websites may be new or refurbished, but will not be used. Refurbished items will come with complete warranties.

    5. Return Policy

    1. Referral Fraud

    (a) Gratis Internet reserves the right to screen all referrals for signs of fraud. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to determine which referrals are fraudulent, and to not disclose the reasoning behind this decision.

    And from their Privacy Policy:

We may send you offers on behalf of our business partners. Keep in mind that if you take advantage of an offer from a Gratis Internet business partner and thus, become their customer, they may independently wish to send offers to you. In the event that you are not interested in receiving future offers from these affiliates, you must contact them directly to fulfill your list removal request.

We may work with other third party businesses using the personal information that you supply to us on the main signup page to bring selected retail opportunities to our members via direct mail, email and telemarketing. These businesses may include providers of direct marketing services and applications, including lookup and reference, data enhancement, suppression and validation and email marketing.

Hmm, maybe I saw it at another forum. Pretty sure it was here. Anyway... this "offer" has been posted before.

Anything like this is never a good way to get goods... I know people in my school who have tried to operate such schemes, and have asked my for help doing it. NO WAY BOZO.

Oh yeah, and I don't see any post that calls dannycakes an idiot.... :/

We're just trying you save you a lot of hassle and heartache. If you want to jump on this with both feet, go ahead. Don't wait for us to follow. If it works out, enjoy your iPod, if not, it will be a lesson learned. Good luck, whatever your decision may be.
