Free Registry Repair

Is there a program that will check and repair registry? I have download a couple, they all find errors, but want me to pay for program before repairing.

Reason being, is my PC runs slow

Pent 4 CPU 3.20 GHz
3.22 GHz 2.0 GB RAM


WINDOWS XP
187 GB free space
defrag today, yesterday and 3 days ago

 

Ccleaner or JV16.

 

I have tried Ccleaner and it tells me to buy to repair

 

Just ran JV16, 606 errors and fixed. Runs great

Ccleaner does not tell you to buy before it cleans, you must of got something different that looks like Ccleaner.

 

There are some "look alike" programs to cCleaner that are requiring payment, SCAMS, all of them.
Find cCleaner slim here of MG's Top Freeware picks and you'll have no problems.

 

And chances are that just cleaning the registry isn't going to make a big difference. Your performance is more likely related to autoruns, security software issues, system files issues, hard disk issues. Pretty much in that order.
With 2G of ram on windows XP, you should be easily full booting in under a minute.
Always slow, or just when on Internet?

 

It seems quicker since running JV16. It would run slow if I had 2 programs open. I use Photoshop Elements and sometimes by itself it would take for ever.
Rebooting would take 3-5 mins, now I would say 2-3 mins
