free signall

    i am using a lynksis wireless router. i would like to be able to have my signal unlocked. is it possible to have my desktop and laptop (only 2 computers hooked up to the router) have their settings tweaked, in order to allow people to use my wireless signal (be a nice guy).

    are there drawbacks- slow me down, hacking (even if tweaked), etc.

    Yes, it will slow you down ....yes it will open you to possible hacks/intrusions ....yes, it's not a good idea. But if you still want to do it ....just remove the security keys in the router.

    ah- i thought there were settings that i could set for my computers, such as an administrator for a network, that the commoners couldnt change, so that they couldnt access me.

    the speed would be an issue for me, if i couldnt do it safely.
