Free software for restaurant

Hi, I've a restaurant and I'm looking for a free software to manage it.
I would something to pick up orders, control customers, waiters, accounting,...
The program should operate on Linux and it should be easy to use.

Have you some idea?

You're going to need to be a lot more specific if you want to get any useful answers! Some questions that you will need to answer first include:

1. What kind of restaurant are you running? Dine-in or take-out? Fast food, cafe, tapas, casual, or fine dining? Do you serve alcohol? Is service a la carte or table d'hote/prix fixe? Is it service-oriented or counter-oriented?

2. What kind of POS system are you currently using? Restaurant POS systems are typically a combination of proprietary hardware and software. The software is usually comprised of a front-end that runs on the POS terminals and a backend that runs as a server on a PC.

3. What kind of flexibility do you need in this software? "Easier" is not specific enough. What specific kinds of challenges are you trying to overcome? What are your unique needs as a restaurant that this software should address?

4. Why does it need to be free? The open source community tends to develop most heavily in areas where the users are likely to contribute back to the project. I don't think restaurateurs are very likely to contribute back to such projects.

5. Why does it need to run on a Mac? Are you using Macs as POS terminals?

6. How proficient are you with computers? If you do find a suitable free software solution and supply your own hardware, you will need to set it up and maintain it yourself. Software problems in restaurants directly impact sales, so you will need to be available to troubleshoot problems immediately.

7. How long have you been running this restaurant? I worked in and ran several restaurants before pursuing my current career. Do you have the experience and perspective to make wise decisions in this regard? Or would you be better off hiring a consultant to help you with this?

I'm looking for software available for Linux Ubuntu or Mac, because I've Mac mini.
I'm running an italian restaurant with 250 seats and I would something to make better service, such as decrease time service.
The program should pick up orders, take note about customers, reservation, stocks, table map, menù, accounitng.

I tried a lot of software to manage my restaurant.
But the best one is QuickOrder.
You can download it for free at:

It's available for ubuntu linux, mac and supports the wireless printer.
