Free Video Editing Software

I'm looking for something basic to remove junk from the beginning/end of a streamed .mkv file. I will likely ask how to use it on this thread when/if I get it.

After doing some serious research I finally got an answer that works for me. There is a software package for Windows 11 it is also available for Windows 10 but you have to download it separately that is a video editor, part of this package is something called clip champ. As it happens this was not suitable for what I wanted. What I wounded up using is OBS( open broadcast studio). OBS cannot modify an existing video source easily but working with another open source program called VLC you can edit an existing video file. Something that surprised me a lot is that you almost have to edit video real time due to the extreme CPU use most CPU's can't keep up with video because us slow humans trail behind the CPU for the most part when you are making copies of an existing video file this situation changes. I'm not sure the technique works yet when I am sure I will post to this thread and let everyone know. Thank you for your help guys.
