A friend of mine has asked me to suggest him some good free utilities. Of course here I can find anything he might need. The question is: can I give him a copy of the "setup.exe"s I used to install? They are all freeware programmes. In the license agreement (as far as I read) it says that I am not authorised to copy the programme. If I download again all the files one by one and burn them without using them, that would be fine, right?
To the Mod: Don't freak out. I haven't done anything yet, just asking if I can.

Suggestions were just full of It, err I mean them:)

I would think(usually gets me in a lot of trouble) copying the whole thing and burning to cd w/o install would be fine.

Why not just show him MajorGeeks so that you can assist him with his problems ( real nice for troubleshooting and the software is already at his house/installed) we welcome new members everyday.

Then there is open source software free and totally transferable(No selling it)

If it is a standard freeware license I believe that it states that you can freely distribute the software. When they mention that you may not copy the software they may mean that you cannot reverse engineer it and change it for your own purposes.

I am not a lawyer so don't take my word as gospel.

I believe if you downloaded it and burned it to a cd that you would be fine, as long as you didn't install it on your computer or anyone else's. A majority of the software says that you are legally entitled to one backup of the software (which would include a burned cd) should the original copy become unusable.

Read the EULA...some allow it, some don't.

he he it would be funny to burn a CD containing only a *.doc with the links to the download. So I either donload them again or drag him into our world.
