    Newbee here so don't laugh too hard. :eek:

    Noticed the well organized FREEWARE listing here.

    1] Since the programs are NOT in verticle alphabetical order, may I assume they are listed in order of best to worst going down ?

    2] Can perhaps 2 or 3 of the spyware programs, [ for instance ], get as good results as a good purchased program ?

    3] Under the impression that 2 RESIDENT functionally identical programs, [ like 2 firewalls ], may seriously bog down system resources & performance. Is this true ?

    4] Does anyone know of a site that rates similar FREEWARE programs like PC Magazine or TopTenReviews does for purchased programs ?

    1) No particular order

    2) Freeware is as good as paid for ....none will catch everything as new crap is coming out daily ...keep your definitions up to date and choose those that work best on your system and that you feel comfortable using.

    3) Never run more than one firewall, or one anti-virus or one realtime anti-spyware.

    4) ......it's all opinion.

    Everyone started out as a newbee. Don't be afraid to ask questions - you won't remain a newbee.
    Never run two firewalls. If you have two or more antivirus programs be sure that only one is working in real time, monitoring or you will get problems.
    The best way to determine how good or bad a free program is, is to "google it". You'll read the praises and complaints then decide if you want to try it.

    Every program listed by Major Geeks is rated by its' members. :cool
    See thumbnail attached for example for Zone Alarm. This is a guide.

    Only you can personally rate a program if it meets your needs, irrespective of other peoples thoughts.
