Freeze Up

First the thumbnails vanished from My Pictures. Now nothing will save properly. The saving process starts but freezes up and I have to end the browser. Netscape and Firefox both wont save anything.

 

Are you able to save in other folders besides "My Pictures"?

 

No. I can't save to any folders.

 

I'm assuming you have Windows XP

1. Start.
2. My Computer
3. Right click on "Local Disk (C"
4. Then a dialog will pop-up, toward the middle-bottom look for "Attributes" to the right of that it has a box for Read-Only, if that is check click on it then click Apply then OK.

I can't find an "attributes" after the right click on C. XP

 

I'm sorry I forgot a step.

After you right click on the Local Disk, select properties then look for "Attributes".

There are five tabs but no attributes.

 

Under the tab "General" look for "Read Only" if the box next to "Read Only" is check click on it to uncheck it.

If it is not checked let me know.

 

The general tab does not have a read only check box.

 

IE seems to work for downloads. FF and NS are still out.

 

I messed up with those steps do the following:

1. Start
2. My Computer
3. Double Left Click on the Local Disk
4. Right click on the folder "Documents and Settings" and select properties.
5. Now look for "Read Only" and there is a box next to it.
6. If checked or filled in, left click to uncheck or unfill. If unchecked or blank already just let me know.

Could you expand upon what happens in Firefox and Netscape when you try to download a file? Besides the fact that they won't save. For example, is there some error that appears and if so what does the error say word for word.

 

The box was checked. I unchecked it but stiil no go on the downloads. The staus of the webpage for downloading is always "not responding". And all of the JPEGS in MY Pictures won't thumbnail properly. But the JPEGS in My Documents are good.

 

Are you able to surf the websites in Firefox and Netscape?

Try the follow for the My Pictures Folder:
Under your My Pictures folder select View on the File Menu at the top, then select Thumbnails.

 

I can websurf and I've already checked thumbnails Websurfing but downloads won't happen. IE downloads aren't going either.

 

Where are you trying to download from? If its "download.com" I also have trouble downloading from them too.
