So last week I posted about getting a new graphics card for my cheap little Emachines EL1358g-51w computer. ( I know POS) so I could do a little more work on it and up FPS in Mnecraft a bit as its my go to when im bored. Im not big time gamer at all.

So It was recommended to get the MSI Radeon R6570LP card. So I got it and a new PSU to boot the upgrade. Well all came in today. Opened up the case got it all shoved in there and now I got issues.

Fits like a glove and install was smooth. Hooked up the DVI cable and powered up the computer and things came up of course resolution was all as it was first boot with the card. Windows 8 loads to metro with no issue then freezes up. If im moving the mouse it freezes black with the mouse showing. If im not touching it then it will freeze black.

I tired removing the card installing the drivers and all from the disc and from the site while running on the integrated setup and then put the card in same thing. So what am I missing. Works fine on intigrated and does not work with the card in it.

Works fine in safe mode. I'm in safe mode now working great. WTF?

So even if I run the computer on VGA with the integrated graphics with the card in place I cant do anything because it locks up. Once the card is out computer is fine again on the same integrated graphics. In bios the computer disables the integrated when it sees the new card so its not trying to run both that I can tell. Safe mode works great.

So is it the PSU is crap or the card is crap or something else im a little agitated now.

Got it going. Damn nvidia drivers for the integrated where not uninstalling properly. Manually got rid of them and now it's going smooth for the most part. Got some glitches like freezing when going in and out of metro now but it is working better.

And back to square one. When I install the drivers for the card I'm back to issues. Without them the card works fine with them I get issues.

OK back up. Even with the uninstall of the Nvidia drivers for the integrated graphics where removed on restart it was defaulting it against the bios selection.

Got into safe mode with networking and it allowed the install of the drivers for the card from the internet and then booted to normal from there and im up.

Here is my prior and new windows scores.

    processor 6.2 to a 6.2

    Ram 5.8 to a 7.1

    Graphics 3.1 to a 5.9

    3d gaming 3.1 to a 6.6

    HDD transfer rate 5.9 to a 5.9

So good increase just from a simple $50 upgrade that was a PITA thanks to Emachines way of doing crap.
