freezing when tranfering music...not matter which method used

i have an archos 605. with this player i can either transfer music by using drag and drop like a hard drive, or i can sync it with WMP. however, whenever i try and transfer my entire music collection, it will freeze my entire computer and i have to turn it off to get it to work again. it will freeze like tis even when i use WMP syncing. I am running a windows xp dell with about 256mb of ram. im lost

 

I had this problem happen to me a little while ago. I'm pretty sure that either your computer's hard drive or the MP3 player's hard drive is going bad, so scan your computer's hard drive first by going to Start Menu -> My Computer -> Right click on C drive -> properties -> tools -> check now -> check both boxes and click "ok". you will need to reboot your computer, and then your hard drive will scan. try to watch to see if any errors are fixed while scanning.
