    Hello to everyone.
i was using Freshdownload, decided that i didnt like it that much and uninstalled it, ever since i have done this i am having trouble downloading files, it keeps saying that 'freshdownload could not take over the download'. i know that....i deleted the programme of the computer..why does it keep popping up as my default download manager so often?
    thanks for any help.

It might not have COMPLETELY uninstalled it!! Have you tried a registry cleaner?? And/or, check out the website of that program and see if they have instructions to COMPLETELY remove the program!!

I know that some programs, like Norton...you have to do more that just simply uninstall the program, but if that is the case...they usually explain thoroughly on their website!!

When you finally manage to get rid of all the remaining crap try Leechget from

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1821.html

It is free $$$ and free of all malware/adware, etc.

I have been using it for ages now and am happy with it. Regards, Bazza

What windows do you have?? Sometimes you will get lucky if you use the built in search feature that is in windows...in the start menu!! Unfortunately...there are usually alot of .dll files that are within a cab, within a cab, and the search feature will not find them automatically!! If so you will have to go in manually and find them!!

In order to do that, we need to know what windows you are running to give you an idea where to start as far as where the dll's are contained!!

    Download... install...and run this....

    Lexun RegScrub XP 3.25

Once you open the program after you've installed it...click on...RegScrubXP Finds Problems...then let it run through the scan...once it's done...click on...select all problems...then...Fix all problems...and this should eliminate any registry problems!! Whenever I run it...I always do it a couple or three times to make sure it gets everything!!

Theoretically that should fix it so that you can install your norton!!

Let me know if you have more questions!!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you!!!!

If you are using Mozilla browser, then follw this path to find those files to delete!!

Double click on each thing in this path that i'm going to lay out here!!

My Computer/Local Disk C/Program files/Mozilla Firefox/Plugins....and in there you should see the .dll's that you are looking to delete!!

Ofcourse...if you are using Netscape or Opera...then after you double click on Program Files...then you look for that instead of the Mozilla Firefox folder!!

Once you get in there and find those files that you want to delete...then just one right click on the file you want to delete, and then click on delete in the little pop up menu that came up when you right clicked on the file!!

Let me know if you need more clear instuctions!!
