fried computer

I need help please,
I was reffered here by my mothers boss. My computer turns on but never makes it past a blank black screen. I tried hitting F8 as I was told -it beeped and turned from white to black. I have really important documents that I haven't had the chance to save with a disk. Last night it worked fine...

 

that happened to me once with the black screen. all i did was reset the bios buy turning off my pc unplugging the main power cord, then i yarded out the battery.after that i moved the jumper over (to short it) counted to ten..........put it all back and it was fixed.

 

check ur Mobo book, and look for the distinct beeb(s) u are hearing, usually in the handbook, the beebs should tell you what kind of problem u are having.

 

I'm having a similar problem and was told by a freind that something like that could fix it. I don't understand what you mean by "yard" it out though. And where is the battery?

 

Battery located on motherboard looks like a watch battery next to that should be a jumper to reset the bios.You must unplug power supply switch the jumpers to what they are now wait ten seconds switch them back plug in power supply reboot. just rember the comp will only boot if you set the jumpers back to what they were orginally
