my pc in the house is installed with MS office 2000 and i like to change it with 2003 version

my question is, do i only installed directly the 2003version?
if so, does the 2000version will delete it automatically?

    thanks for any assistance

    Hi infoseeker,

IMO Best course is to uninstall 2000 then install 2003. You can just install 2003 but when you get updates it will continue to report that you need updates for 2000. Also the system will report that some apps from 2000 are still installed and you will get an error when you attempt to remove them. Just my 2 cents...

When you go to install Office 2003 it will give you the choice as to whether to keep Office 2000 or to "upgrade." I totally agree with the previous poster (itguy); you will be far better off "upgrading." Since you’ll likely only be using 2003 after you install it; keeping 2000 is simply a waste of hard drive space.

When I upgraded to Office 2003; just for the heck of it, I tried keeping both Office 2000 as well as 2003 and had nothing but problems – especially with Windows Update, which seemed to get confused and offer multiple repetitive updates for 2000 gain and again when they weren’t actually needed. There were also other issues that are too long to go into here; but suffice it to say that you'll be far better off upgrading instead of having both installed.

Side Note: Also you might want to check out this webpage to get an idea what the “new” office will look like and how it will be different from Office 2000:

    Good Luck!
