from vista to xp drivers

hi ive seen on this forum about drivers for packard bell MX37-U-005 sound problems i had enough of vista and ive even installed sp1 so i went bk to xp i thought it be no problem but when i installed it when to packard bell website guess what no drivers for xp but thanks to you lot on good advice ive found drivers for everything else except for the sound now ive tried everything it says on the forum but it still dont work ive downloaded the microsoft audio high def audio bus and the realtek driver and it still dont work so can someone direct me or help me for the sound to work

Read through that thread; it's for a PackardBell also. It's a different model, but the problem and drivers are the same as yours. Check it out and see if any of it helps. There's TONS of good info and links in there for you!

EDIT- I downloaded the Vista driver from here: http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=7439330100&ppn=PC10E00201 and started to run it. I let it extract the files before killing the process with the task manager. I opened up some of the .inf configuration/driver files and there's settings in these files for Windows XP. So, there's a chance it will work. You may not be able to run the .exe to install it, but maybe you can "force" the device manager to use the drivers by pointing the hardware wizard to the extracted folder... by default it goes to C:\drivers\audio so if you already have a C:\drivers folder, rename it to something else so it doesn't get overwritten.

 

I have all the drivers including the sound ones for the problem that I made the original request for help on... and they all work. but I wont have the Laptop in front of me till Sat, she who I love and adore has it at work till then....lol... but will without fail post it all up to you then. Having said that.... if you go through the post I made, everthing there and the post replies will get you through it.
