I have to buy a new laptop becuase my old one has reached the end of its life span. All the laptops that I have looked at only come with windows vista but I do not like vista one bit. So would it be bad for the laptop to put xp on it or what should I do? Thank you for your help.

Check for XP drivers for the laptop, that's the main issue, besides installing an older OS which brings it's own problems to the scene. I believe that Dell is still installing XP but for a premium now. Only reason I would downgrade a Vista is if you have a ton of bucks spent on software or hardware peripherals that won't work with Vista due to drivers/compatibility. You may also void your warranty.

You're going to have to suck it up sooner or later, XP is very good but it's on its way out. Hey, you got the time and guts to try then go ahead and good luck.:)

Dell will put XP on a laptop - it costs extra but if that's what you want, it might be worth it.
Check, maybe some other vendors will also put XP on a laptop.
