Frozen during reformat

Alright I am using windows vista on a dell laptop. Decided to reformat my computer today and while reinstalling vista I went to watch a movie and I come back to a black screen that hasn't changed in an hour.

Not really sure what to do from here. Any help ?

 

Well have you tried to do the process again? Something may have went wrong where you had to enter something and the computer just shut things down when it couldn't get any input, or maybe the power went off while you were watching a movie so I don't know for sure. I'm not real familiar with vista anyway so maybe someone else could give some more input here.

 

Yes I have tried to go through the process about 5 times over the past 24 hours. I have deleted extra partitions. I have done everything I could think of and still during the re installation of vista it freezes on the completing installation part.
Well it doesn't freeze but it goes to a black screen and stays that way for good.

Ive checked my memory hard drive etc.. for hardware problems and there is nothing wrong. So ya seems like tough one

 

Could it be that Vista cannot load drivers for the screen or the graphics card?

What model of laptop is it and what video card does it have?

 

Figured out the problem. I had to change some of the setting in the bios which resolved the issue.
