Frustrated in California

    Im on a friends laptop.....because everytime I boot up my HP Pavillion, it shuts down. I dont know whats going on. Upgraded from win xp to win 7 (ultimate). Havent installed any new hardware. Tried all I can think of, different HD, New power cord....with no results. It's not on long enough to be an overheating problem...:confused:confused:confused

    PLEASE HELP!!!! I need my laptop

    Have you looked at your Event Viewer to see if there are any issues? What about the Device manager? Is there any yellow triangles that need some attention?

    Post back what you find....

    As well as answering the above so long s it stays on long enough, can you boot into Safe Mode ok? if so this will at least allow us to see what's going on.

    Did you clean install Win7 or run the inplace upgrade? if upgrade then while it "may" work for some it is not a recognised upgrade path in Win7 due to issues like this as drivers have in part changed and some software is incompatible, a clean install freash us best route.

    Did you before upgrading ti Win7 run the Advisory Tool http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_7_Upgrade_Advisor_d6076.html and if so did it highlight any potential issue areas?
