    Hello everyone,

Let me start off by saying if anyone could shed light on my big problem, I would be extremely grateful. Here goes:

I have two computers. Both Dells. One is an ancient Dimension PC that came with Millenium but now runs XP smoothly. The other is an Inspiron laptop.

I have a Linksys router with speedbooster. I have a cable modem, via Comcast, for internet service.

Those are the players. My problem is this: my internet connection is very inconsistent at times with my PC, and also at times with my laptop. But more my PC. I had a Comcast tech come to my house, do some tinkering, and he assured me that my connection was strong and that if I have problems in the future to just reset my modem by pushing a pen tip through a little hole in the back of the modem.

Everytime I lose my internet connection on my PC I shut down the power on everything, I unplug the power source on the router, reset the modem, wait a minute, re-power, and all is well again.

My question is this: why am I losing my internet connection on my PC (and laptop too at times)? The inconsistency is driving me crazy. I just want a connection 24/7. Sometimes when the PC connection is down, the laptop connection is just fine. So I'm thinking the problem is not the router but rather something to do with connection to the modem. I don't believe the PC is the problem either.

In the end, I don't think there is ultimately anything wrong per se with the modem, router, or computers, but clearly something is causing this inconsistent internet connection, and I have to find out why, because it's driving me nuts.

Any suggestions, answers, ideas, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:confused

I dont know either but when you find out let me know. I am having similar problems with my linksys router... have you called their tech support? They have helped me in the past. I have 2 desktops... one router and one modem. I spent an hour on phone with qwest tonight and he assures me my signal is strong and how it should be. When I disconnected the router and hooked my PC directly to modem it did seem better but not for long.
I will follow this thread and hopefully someone will have the answers.
    Good luck:D
