FTP connection rejected

I have been trying to log into my website ftp for a few days now with no joy. My host said it could see my connection attempts and suggested it may be a config problem on my end or a problem with my ISP not being able to communicate with their servers. I think it is a problem at my ISPs end. I think I have tried everything so far. I have reset my DSL-504 router to factory settings, disabled port redirection, re-enabled port redirection, shut down my firewall, tried to connect to same server on the other pc on my network. Nothing is working. I even tried to log into my friends site ftp on the same hosting service (same IP) with no joy. This is really my last resort posting here. Can anyone suggest a reason as to why this may be happening and/or someone else to try? Perhaps it has nothing to do with my ISP. I need some help here. Perhaps somebody can suggest a few tests to eliminate a few things.

 

What are you using to connect to the file server? It must have shortcuts/profiles that you set up with passwords and paths and such. Try making a completely NEW one of those, and entering the right p/w and path.

Sometimes those things get corrupted, and the only way to fix the problem is to create new ones.

 

I'm using WSFTP Pro 9. I've set up numerous new accounts on WS and on recently downloaded freeware FTP clients, all with the same results. I'm really starting to think it is the ISP at fault here. I can't think of anything else to prove otherwise. Unless my web host is lying to me.
