FTP General problems

hi,
I just bought a domain. And even though I'm fairly good with HTML, I've always avoided using FTP programs for my sites. Well now I HAVE to. And I keep getting stuck.
Anybody recommend an instructional site that explains in detail (for dummy's), how to correctly use your FTP program??

Or anybody (god help ya) willing to walk me through it?

 

I use SmartFTP and it really couldnt be any easier. You have the local browser and the server browser and can just drag and drop the files from your comp...
