FTP Security Concerns - XP

Hello all,

Another fine day in geekville, isn't it? The company I work for is interested in setting up a FTP site. Unfortunatley, I've never done this before. I've researched how its done, and what is needed to do it, and I think I have a good handle on that. Btw, I will be doing this on an XP Pro box. My concern now is security. Other than the fact that credentials are transmitted in plain text, what security concerns do I face with a project like this? Would the MS Baseline security analyzer help? Any advice/input is appreciated.

Okay, so I've set up a test FTP site serving our intranet, I've run the MSBA and the IIS lockdown tool. Seems good enough so far. Does anyone have any further considerations I should take into account?

Ahhhh! I found a better solution! WebDAV seems to be the way to go, as it supports SSL on Win 2K3... shame I can't test that on my XP workstation though....
