FTP Software

Hello all,

I am in need of a ftp program and wasn't sure where to look, also is it worth going for the free ones to begin ( trial license) and buy one, I have no idea on what is the best program out there but I would like one thats easy to use.

I know about Getright & DAP but am not sure if these are any good.

Please help

Does anyone just use the command line, at the MS-Dos prompt?

I used to be a fan of CuteFTP but i then found SmartFTP and i love it, nice GUI fast - easy to use - enjoy

I like smart ftp also. and I also use fetch.

 

For me lately it's been Filezilla (Windows) and Gftp (Linux)

You can't run the GUI program from the cronjob can you?

I am going to have to change my html files from one webserver to another. People have told me that these programs, like cute-ftp, and leechftp can do that sort of thing... copy from one webserver's harddrive to another one *without* downloading to your hardrive in between.

Yeah SmartFTP is good but CuteFTP is the one ive been using lately,and all i really need simple upload nothing fancy, Free & easy to use.

ha! The minute that I sent the reply to this post I 'got it' about the joke there.
Doh! I'm slow sometimes.

I know that some programs *can* be called from the command line. Even w/o X running.

See, I really like the ftp. I understand that it is NOT secure. But, until I learn another way of file transer, like say ssh or something, then I will have to make due with ftp.

See, I have a cron job that runs every night. It updates my webpage `automagically'
by a BASH script! You can check it out, the url is in the `signature' here of my post.

So, since that is the only thing that I have ever done with the computer that seems `cool' (I'm quite new at this), then, of course, the ftp is close to my heart, you may say.

I don't have too much earning power, that's just me, but, someday, if I did get a lot of money, I would blow it on a NY visit. haha... ride the Subway trains and the whole works. You know, Manhattan, the real business part... Yes, that would be a place to see there!

I use Command Line FTP periodically when , for whatever reason, my FTP clients at work don't want to connect; and for whatever reason, Command Line FTP will work fine. Who knows what they do downtown to mess this up.

 

Hmm...Maybe I should change my username from Farbib (which stands for Brandon In Backwards Recursive Acronym Format) to E-Penis?
