Fustrating computer

I am a computer novice and I have a custom built PC bought off a friend as he has moved to Canada. After i have it on for a while (usually around 2 hours), i get the following message coming up when i try to use task manager.

The application failed to initialize properly (oxc00012d) click on ok to terminate the application.

Then i cant get in to ANYTHING at all. The same message appears when i try to access any of my programs.

Can anyone help me.

 

So, the problem seems to arise only after the computer has been running for about hours? In other words, it seems to be a factor of time rather than what you're doing on the computer? I would think this error is not dependent upon time but rather upon what you're doing with your computer, regardless of how long it's been running.
