    Well I'll be.
I know this is not the right thread to be posting this on What is the difference in Appearance and stability and user friendly on Linux vs MS (xp).

Linux is by far more secure than windows. It has nothing to do with the number of users, its hard to write a virus that will actually do something to you on Linux. Why?

Code doesnt execute without your approval, or install. The simple fact that your not logged in as admin constantly really helps secure things. Most windows users are admins on their own machines, and when something wants to make a change it has admin access. In Linux your logged in a a restricted user. When you want to install something you simply type in the root password when it asks you, or in the terminal use the su command. Even if someone figured out a way to spread a virus to Linux users, it wouldnt be able to do much unless it executed while someone was logged in as root. Even if that, the person would have to purposely execute the file.

Linux isnt 100% secure and perfect but it is way more secure than M$. The reason so many people get virus's is outlook and explorer allow anything to execute from web pages and emails. Its getting better, hopefully sp2 will fix some things. If M$ hadnt made it so easy, there wouldnt be so much going around.
