    Hello All:

I know that there is sickness all the time in the world, but here in North Central Texas, there is a stomach virus of epic proportions going around. Vomiting for a week, diaherria and high fevers.

One of my wife's clients, a little infant boy, has had it for nearly 4 days now, and this particular "stomach flu" is so doctors are actually having people come into the office with this stuff to receive injections. normally, doctors would say stay away since usually "stomach flus" are highly contagious and you just have to ride them out.

So wash your hands extra good, and keep an eye out.

Hopefully my gf never comes home with that as she's a nurse in a large hospital. We have so far avoided that particular one. Hygiene is key in our opinion.:)

What I hate are the hospitals around here or in the bigger cities around here. I was roomate with few people that worked in hospitals. And in hospitals they are suppose to post and have signs/some sort of notice for if the sickness is air born or can be catch easy. Basically if its bad and you should wear mask. Well the people at those hospitals didn't do there job and several times my roomate when in there with no mask. Later to find out she got introuble for it(not her fault that others didn't do the job of posting notice). Anyways so now shes scared cause this sickness is bad stuff and kills you within 24/48 hours and some of the times she went into the rooms without mask they were stuff that could take a week or so to kill you. So basically they were scared each day hoping nothing and they were told if any small thing came(come to ER). WELL thank god nothing happen most of the time cept once.. and that was scary enough(thank god hospital paid for it) due to them lacking in there professional ways.

I work in a hospital and we have for a few weeks had an alert out for Norovirus as some patient have it, they are in isolation wards/floors now, but in a hospital and the staffs defence its not an easy thing to detect and stop, yes all could walk around with masks on but that woudl do nothing as these viri are spread by touch also, so you'd only have to touch an infected door handle or push an infected elevator button.

The virus may also be spread by patients visitors, so maybe we should stop all visiting while an outbreak is going on, but this is not going to happen in UK as we have all these patient rights etc and the problems banning visitors would give too bad a press to the hospital systems.

Staff in our hospital do as much as they can when an outbreak is detected but you'd never stop 100% a viral outbreak, and the floor I work on is part of the infectious diseases wing, with biohazards levels etc

All you can really do is use the bio hand washes (we have these in work) if you are in one of these enviroments or are in contact with folk who work in these enviroments until the outbreak is burned out.

I know some hospitals that do take care and go beyond good. Iam not suprise by my local area hospital not taking and messing things up. But then my roomate got transfered to a big name hospital farther away(suppose to be the best) but yet the staff and people didnt post simple signs about it or report in the paperwork about those rooms.
