G+ or FB? Both?

I have a G+ account and a FB account. I prefer FB. I stopped using twitter altogether.
What social media software do you prefer?

MajorGeeks is about as social as media gets for me.

I can't imagine a more colossal waste of time then FB. Hanging out just to read what someone had for dinner or who they're on the phone with.

I confess I've found a few long lost college friends on Facebook, but I use public posting very sparingly.

I've stopped "liking" bands, TV shows, etc. As an example, NBC put up so many messages about one of my favorite shows I think they need to do a spin off: Law and Order, Facebook Victims Unit. :-D

I also wish there was a polite way to tell at least one friend that I do not need (or care about) his 10+ Foursqare posts on Facebook daily stating "Fred" is at Al's Car Wash, Subway or Madam Wong's House of Happy Endings. In addition to having to scroll through all this junk to find real posts, it also translates into, "Attention Burglars: I'm not home right now, so feel free to stop by and break in..."

You do know you can block applications from appearing in your news, feed, right? You can block Foursquare, you can block all the games...you can even block certain people if you aren't interested in what they have to say but still want to keep them in your friends list.

It bugs the crap out of me when people complain about what I post on MY wall (especially those who claim to be tech-savvy). If you don't like it, either block the stuff you don't want to see or delete me from your friends list. It's easy.

Anyway. Google+ has seemed like a colossal stupidity to me, and I really don't know anyone either personally or professionally that uses it. Facebook seems to be the main one used.

I wasn't complaining or advising others what to do. I was just offering my opinion in response to a question. I was on FB for about 3 months. I couldn't find any use at all for it.

I have FB, but honestly, I don't find it all that enthralling. I like to post pics of my kids so my family can see them. I have all of 28 friends. I'm not interested in friending HS or college friends I don't keep in touch with. I've also blocked some people who post way too much info on their lives for my taste. There's this weird non-interaction and voyeurism thing about FB I find a little creepy.

I much prefer using Forums such as MGs. Everyone has the same interests as me. If I talk about computers, you all don't look at me with blank bored look on your faces (I don't think :-D).

As a new member here on MajorGeeks I must say that I am very happy to have found a new digital home. MG is a very vibrant, active community.
I like FB in that it allows me to connect to family, friends, colleagues, and to my friends in the free open source software community. Slackware forever. :)

It may be that i am just a grumpy old man but i am not able to understand the sheer amount of drivel that people will post on these sites.

"we are going to the restaurant" then "we are having steak in the restaurant" and if that's not enough "we just got home from the restaurant"

Some of the posters must lead very dull lives.
I am wheelchair bound but i can still find a better use of my time, although it must be a success as it made Mark Z into a billionaire.

I have both but I only have about 5 friends on G+ because my friends don't really use it as much as they use FB.

And I was just telling you there is a way to do exactly what you want without having to find a "polite way" to tell anyone anything.

I'm not intending any hostility or disrespect but I'm already doing exactly what I want and FB ain't it.

I am finding that I'm using G+ less and less. I am now on FB and MG more. :)

I'm all for a Myspace comeback. I enjoyed Myspace in its day, but have never found FB appealing.
