Game Freeze

Hi all.
Been trying to play MOHAA online.
I get to play for maybe five minutes and the game freezes.
No strange displays so I dont think it is the graphics card?? (Radeon 9500 256mb).
MBM is showing a temp of 57 as the last temp reading of the cpu on the last three freezes.
I didn't think that 57 is hot?
Any clues please.

 

Hmmm.
Just looked at my previous thread on this same issue some time back.
When I applied new paste the cpu ran at 48 while playing, last time it was shutting down at 63.
Does paste need renewing every now and again??

Yes I have.
I've just tried playing a normal game to eliminate anything to do with the internet.
It froze at 58 degrees. It has to be a temp issue but I didn't think the 50's was hot for an Athlon 3000.
I'll have to try renewing the paste.

Does anyone know why signatures can't be seen on this forum?
I have all my comp specs as my sig to avoid having to keep writing them.

 

Ya I can't see sigs eithier anyway, are you using any special Mods or Skins

 

hey go to your User CP and Edit your options to show sigs. I can see them know

So are you using any special skins or mods and whats the speed of your processors in giga or mega hertz.

 

No mods no skins just basic stuff.
2100 is megahertz 2.1 is gigahertz
I have had to underclock my 3000xp as the mobo wont boot at it's correct or overclocked settings.
This is home built as well after my last comp was almost totally wiped by a dodgy power supply.

 

Having incorrect FSB causes tons of trouble, especially if the fsb for the core and the memory are not the same/ not at specified settings.

 

well its not the game then, cause I play MultiP MOH on my crappy computer all the time. but you could try reinstalling it anyway. maybe you need to get a bigger power supplier or a better cooling system.

I have now cured it.
Of all things DUST!!!!.
I know I should of thought of it before but there you go.
A quick hoover (or Dyson in this case) of a VERY dusty graphics card and down comes the temp by 9 degrees or so.
Dust came to mind after I tried a desktop fan blowing into the case, no more freezes yet the cpu was still running at the same temp.
The fan must of kept the graphics card cooler but the cpu was still working harder than needed.
So there you go, if anyone else comes up with this problem tell them to get the vaccum cleaner out!!!!
