hello major geeks. i am playing a game on my newly built computer and i want to add a joy stick so i put it into the game port and went on game controllers on control panel. when i select the type of joy stick i have and press ok i get the error. " game port or game port drives are not propely configured. please consult device mamager." and anyone help to get it working.

First off, what OS are you using? The reason I ask is because I just installed a joystick on a Win2000 machine and I went into game controllers and clicked on add and then from the drop down box, I chose the joystick I had (MS Precision Pro) and it auomatically detected it and installed the correct drivers. Now, is your gameport on a soundcard, or on the MB itself? If it's on the MB you may have to enable it in the BIOS. If it's on the soundcard, the drivers for it should have been installed when you put the sound drivers in. I hope this helps!!
