Game requesting CPU driver update

I have installed a game that is prompting me to "update" my CPU driver to "AMD Processor Driver Version 1.3.2.0053" .
Im just wondering why this game would want me to do this .
I have a Gateway 827GM, Athlon 64 3500+ .
I just want to know if it is safe to install this driver, as no other applications i have used in the 3 years i have had this computer has prompted me to do this .
Will it affect anything else or create any other problems if i update this driver?

 

Ok, ill give it a shot . The game does boldly stress that your GPU needs the newest drivers, as well, and when i clicked 'skip' instead of 'install CPU driver' the game in fact did not work .

I've installed some newer games that check my video drivers against what is current but had the option to continue without actually updating them (COD 4 demo did this as I recall). I did anyway but not from the game. I prefer going straight to the maker of the video card.

 

I updated the driver, the games runs fine now, except for my underpowered (for this game, anyway) GPU .
I checked with http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
before I got the game, and my system met the minimum requirements, but fell short of the recommended requirements .
